About GeoBC
GeoBC provides a window to data and information sources provided by various ministries and agencies from the Natural Resource Sector within the British Columbia Provincial Government. The focus is on spatial and attribute data and associated applications that allow display and interaction with the data.
The Integrated Land Management Bureau (ILMB) has the mandate to provide client-focused, high quality, integrated Crown land and resource management and information services to British Columbians. ILMB is responsible for GeoBC and has developed this site as a first step towards making information accessible to clients without having to go to many different sites to find the source.

1) Interactive Maps
This type provides links to business specific mapping applications that focus on a particular agencies information. Most of these links start up applications that provide a map interface to information. They use a common infrastructure so that the look and feel is similar between them.
A tutorial is available within the applications that explains how to use the interface and describes the various tools. There are a wide range of tools available in the general mapping environment.
NOTE: Each business area chooses which of the tools are relevant for its topic area. Therefore you may see a limited set of tools within some applications even through the tutorial provides information on the full set.
2) Information Sites
This type provides access to broader information sources across the natural resource sector such as portals, websites and documents.
Quick Links
are applications that have been built to reach across many agencies and provide access to their information all together. The following applications are provided:
Data Discovery allows a user to enter search parameters and find out what datasets are available that meet that criterion. It also provides specific information about each dataset such as who the owner is, when it was loaded where it is located, what are the access restrictions, can it be downloaded, etc.
Data Distribution allows a user to select datasets of interest and download them to their computer. The data owners determine the appropriate access and distribution mechanism for a particular dataset.
